A few more from the Creek cruise

Here we are enjoying a drink before we set off to battle the Bur Dubai traffic (Muriel did all the battling!)

And here we are set to head off to the Madinat having had a very enjoyable evening.

I'm trying to write shorter posts so I'll blog more often....

Cruisin and Groovin' (hehe)

We had a very hectic weekend with end of year celebrations. Everyone is going away and some people are leaving for good.

Year 2 headed out on the Bateaux Dubai for dinner. We cruised up the creek and wined and dined.

A good night was had by all.... Except maybe Sara but that's another story!

On Thursday night Zadok and I went to Martin's final Karama party.... It had a yellow theme as he is headed for the Canary Islands (lucky for some).

I know I am the main feature of this photo but I put it here because of Martin in the background.... In his tweety costume, Just look at those pins!

Jen's Visit

My very good friend Jen popped over from London for a whirlwind visit last weekend. Jen and i met when I started studying Indonesian in Year 11 and have remained fast friends ever since. She has now left Tasmania behind for a year and is currrently living in London.

Jen arrived on Thursday morning so we had 4 days to see the sight and have delights. Here's what we managed to see! First it was off to Wild Wadi! I finished school a bit early and we zipped off on Thursday afternoon. Now some people I know don't like Wild Wadi, but you have to go in with the right attitude. It's not a massive water park but it's nicely set up and has all these slides that shoot you upwards, which is fun!

This is the Jumeirah Sceirah, which I hate but Jen made me go on it. I still hate it. Hehe. Last time I went with Zadok on the weekend and it was horrendous waiting in line, but Jen and i hardly had to wait at all.

Next we raced off home to get ready for dinner. It was a bit of a Year 2 thing I organised as so many of us had birthdays in May, including ME! Here isd Sheila, Me and Sara (Sara shares my birthday).

Here are the three stooges, that's not a Galloping Rhino I see emerging is it?

We were at the Al Marooj in Pergolas, the buffet there is very good. It was pasta night my favourite! We headed out after and it was a bit of a rowdy night.... Don't think we need too many details! Next on the list... Down by the Creek (if you v=can bear it again!)

Happy Birthday To ME!

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday. It's great being a teacher on your birthday because kids get so excited for you.

Here is a terrible pic of me! It was my little friends birthday as well, her Mum brought the cake for us to share.

Sheila and the kids made me this adorable card... Who taught those kids to spell!!!! Click on it for a better look. I got lots of nice pressies and lots of really good laughs! Zadok and I went out for dinner last night and next week we are going out with a big bunch of friends.

It's half term this weekend, so in just 6 hours I will be lady of leisure for a full 4 days...

HOLIDAY!

So we have all survived another term arriving in the 'Spring' holidays with just a few bruises and squashed toes. The last day of term is always a half day for us, we finish at 12.30 pm (I do get to school early, 6 hours is not really a half day if you ask me!) The year 2 team headed off to Cactus Cantina for lunch and drinks. In true Dubai tradition all the drinks were free for women for 5 hours, I never can quite understand how they can do that!

This is Sara who works in Year 2 (she doesn't always have a 'come hither' look) and my Lovely new TA Sheila, she is making my life a lot easier! She is very organised and really loves kids.

After we'd been at Cactus Cantina (the food was good by the way, it's an inerestin spot, in Rydges Plaza on the Satwa round about. Worth popping in and they have lots of promotions) we went downstairs to Aussie Legends, which I have to say is just like a dodgy Australian bar.

The only reason I mention it is they were also serving free drinks. I think they were just trying to use uo this awful blue dye someone must have over ordered!

So that was the end of term celebration! Yesterday Zadok and I headed out to have a sticky beak at the Jumeirah Palm, the manmade island jutting out from Dubai's coastline. The JP is the smallest and most developed of 3 palms, Jebel Ali and Deira being the other 2. The Deira Palm, when completed, will be home to 1,000,000 people would you believe, twice the population of Tassie! Anyway we found you can drive out onto the JP now, just the trunk part. The outer fronds are still havin work done on them. There are people living all up the trunk already!

I am sure the apartments on the outside are very pleasant with their sea views. On models we have seen the trunk of the palm looks narrow, but there are 6 lanes on this road and as you can see 2 rows of apartment blocks. All built on artificial island, crazy stuff!
